Description
Harold Orton's ms. phonetic fieldwork recordings and orthographic notes on informants for Newcastle, Ovingham, Rochester, Rothbury, Seahouses, Seaton Delaval, Wark, Wooler and Fenton, and North-East Northumberland ( Ancroft, Bowmont Water, Cornhill and Ford). Includes orthographic and phonetic transcriptions of dialect speech from Ovingham. Data for Seahouses includes examples of Bamburgh dialect. Includes Kurt Rydland's ms. marks throughout.
