Provenance
Armorial bookplate of John Symmons Esq. on the front pastedown. The bookplate is of the second design used by Symmons and incorporates the Barlow arms; it therefore postdates 1773, the year of his marriage to Anne Trevanion, née Barlow.
Pink armorial bookplate of John Grover on the front pastedown with the motto: Le Roy, La Loy, La Foy.
Coloured armorial bookplate of Sir Edward Allen Brotherton on the front free endpaper. The book was most likely acquired before 17 June 1929 when Brotherton was created Baron Brotherton of Wakefield.
