Printed out of e-mail between Chappell and Kester Aspden regarding life in Leeds university 1961-1967; surrounding area and campus architecture, lectures by Prof Happold and Manton, social life, Brotherton Library, Zoology Dept, Film Society and Student Union.
Biography or history
Les Chappell graduated with a BSc (Zoology, 1964) and PhD (Parasitology, 1967) from the University of Leeds, UK. He then took a postdoctoral fellowship in the laboratory of the late Clark P Read at Rice University in Houston, Texas, USA. He returned to the UK to take up a lectureship at Queen Mary College, University of London (1970) and then moved to an ODA Fellowship at the Molteno Institute, University of Cambridge working on novel aspects of anti-schistosome chemotherapy. In September 1973 he came to the Department of Zoology, University of Aberdeen as lecturer in Zoology where he has remained ever since as senior lecturer then reader. He took early retirement in 2005 and became part-time reader until December 2006. [From the University of Aberdeen website]
