Description
Issue without portrait of Chapman on verso of first title. (Bookseller lists another issue, apparently, of this second edition, with the portrait.).
[2nd edition]. Distinguished from the first edition (c.1612) by addition of a dedication to the Earl of Somerset at the beginning of pt.2 (the Odyssey), a leaf of "Faults escaped", and an emblematic engraving before the dedication to Henry Prince of Wales.

The first series of page-numbers is followed by 23 unnumbered pages including 4 blank (sigs. Gg8 and 2A1). Between pages [194] and 195 of the second series is a blank leaf (2R8). Pages 350-374 are misnumbered 352-376. Ii8 is a blank leaf at the end.
The Odyssey has separate pagination and signatures and a special title-page, also engraved, reading: "Homer's Odysses... Imprinted at London by Rich: Field, for Nathaniel Butter".
