Description
A large arched miniature of the Annunciation, in a French style of painting. The angel Gabriel announces the birth of Christ to the Virgin Mary. Gabriel holds a scroll with the words "Ave gracia plena dominus tecum". Mary stands under a pink canopy holding a book. A vase with a lily is on the floor, and the Holy Ghost as a dove descends surrounded by golden rays. The miniature is surrounded by a full decorated border with a peacock, a swallow, strawberries, grapes and flowers. A fine decorated initial 'D' in blue and red, on a gold ground.
