A suppliant, named (over an erasure) as Hugh of Mazijnghem (the second owner of the manuscript), is depicted kneeling in prayer in front of a small altar covered with a green cloth, on which a book lies open. He wears a military uniform, complete with a sword, and his coat of arms hangs on the wall of his chamber. The name of the original patron, Antoine de Crèvecœur, originally stood in the text.
