Bindings


Late fifteenth- or early sixteenth-century binding of dark brown calf over bevelled wooden boards, rebacked. The leather is blind-stamped on the upper and lower covers with an interlace pattern forming lozenges of different sizes. The spine has three raised bands. The Roman numeral II is written in black ink manuscript on the tail-edge. There is evidence of four metal clasps, now lost, at the head and tail and at the fore-edge. Size: 323 x 222mm. Leaf size: 306 x 212mm.
