Marginal annotations in red and black ink manuscript, fifteenth- or early sixeenth-century, on a3v and a3r.
Occasional annotations in blank ink manuscript in a later hand.
This copy is missing the blank leaf k6.
Some worm damage.
Bindings
Late fifteenth- or early sixeenth-century full binding of dark brown calf over bevelled wooden boards, the leather much worn especially at the corners. The book has been rebacked. The upper and lower covers are blind-tooled with a border and frame of triple fillets containing a pattern of stars and interlaced knotted ropes. There is evidence of the book having been fastened with four metal clasps, one each at the head and tail and two at the fore-edge. The spine has three raised bands. Gold-tooled between fillets in the second panel are the words: Suetonii Opera Venetiis 1490. The remaining panels are decorated with a blind-tooled herringbone pattern. At the top of the spine are the remains of a circular pinked library label. Size: 325 x 215mm. Leaf size: 311 x 203mm.
