Description

Correspondence, texts and contracts chiefly relating to Geoffrey Hill's contributions to radio programmes produced by the BBC. Includes:

- 1 typescript fax and 1 typescript letter to Hill from producer Tim Dee (12 February 1998 - 19 February 1999); the fax concerns a reading at Poetry International, London; the letter is accompanied by photocopies of reviews of a radio adaptation of Hill's Mercian Hymns broadcast on BBC Radio 4 on 7 January 1999;

- papers relating to the programme Picturing the Word, including 3 typescript letters from producer Ekene Akalawu to Hill (20 July 1999 - 29 July 1999), a typescript of the text for Hill's broadcast, The Vision After the Sermon: Jacob Wrestling With the Angel (12 ff) with Hill's ms revisions, and a copy of Hill's contract for the programme (15 September 1999);

- papers relating to the series The Lost Voices of British Poetry, including 1 typescript faxed letter to Hill from Ekene Akalawu (7 September 1999), and ms draft of the script with ms cover note [n.d.] ([13] ff), a typescript fax of the text of Hill's talk on the Tudor Seneca with his ms corrections (29 September 1999), a typescript fax of Hill's talk with Hill's ms markings and note Script as Recorded 30.9.99 (30 September 1999) (6 ff), and a clean copy of the same (30 September 1999);

- items relating to Hill's Shakespeare for the Millennium lecture on Coriolanus, including travel documents, 2 typescript faxed letters to Hill from Radio 3 Night Waves Editor Abigail Appleton (10 January - 10 February 2000), a typescript faxed letter to Appleton on behalf of Hill (20 January 2000), a copy of Hill's contract for the programme (25 April 2000), a typescript faxed letter to Ekene Akalawu on Hill's behalf (20 June 2000), and a programme for Literature at the Royal Festival Hall, April - June 2000, including details of Hill's Shakespeare for the Millennium lecture.
