The "Rogues and vagabonds of Shakespeare's time" was first published in "Shakespeare's England", 1916; "Sir Walter Ralegh", in Blackwood's magazine, November, 1918; "Jonathan Swift" was given as a lecture, 1917; "the rest of the book was first printed in the Cambridge history of English literature". cf.
