Description
Beaumont states in his "The breast-plate", 1814, that only 300 copies of this pamphlet were printed, of which few were sold.
The resolution here referred to recorded disavowal and disapproval of all publications of a political nature by Methodist ministers, apparently instigated by a pamphlet which Beaumont had "printed and sold early 1809", p.10, (probably his "The beggar's complaint against rack-rent landlords") alleged by the Rev. Mort and others to have been a cause of Luddite riots in the Huddersfield area and elsewhere three years later.
By George Beaumont.
