Biography or history
Hemmings, Henry (1899-1997). Born in Northampton. Cadet at Northampton School and auxiliary at Duston Military Hospital (1914-1917). Enlisted 2 Feb 1917. Trained in Inns of Court OTC (Aug-Dec 1917) and Officer Cadet Battalion, Berkhamsted and Catterick (Dec 1917-May 1918). Served in France in 3rd Battalion Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, attached to 11th Sherwood Foresters (Oct 1918-May 1919). Subsequently studied geology at St John's College, Cambridge.
