Catalogued from the general title-page to vol.2, which is wrongly dated; the final part of no.40, begins with a 'Memoir, to... conclude the year 1854"; there is no title-page to [vol.1].


A major portion of the periodical consists of a series of 31 papers, 'Characteristics of the Brethren's Church', on the history of the United Brethren, by 'X.Y.Z.', almost certainly John Carey, beginning in July (?) 1852 ([vol.1], p. 154). The periodical also contains material on Yorkshire Brethren, etc.
