Biography or history
Southam, Ernest George (1900-1998). Born at High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. Enlisted in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry on 24 May 1915, serving on the Western Front, 17 Dec 1915-3 Mar 1916 but discharged on 6 Mar 1916 after it transpired he was underage. Enlisted in Royal Marines, 30 Nov 1917 and served on board HMS Glory at Murmansk and SS Nigeria. Invalided out of service, 3 May 1919 after accidental injury. During the Second World War, he served in the Home Guard, 25 Aug 1940-31 Dec 1944.
