Two supplements are included, one containing two essays on the work, i.e. The genesis of Johnson's Dictionary by Dr. J.D. Fleeman and The lexicographic achievement of Johnson by Dr. Brian O'Kill, and the other being a facsimile of the 1747 plan of the work, addressed to Philip Dormer, late Earl of Chesterfield and a principal Secretary of State to the then King of England.
