The title-page to this atlas was used long after the date it bears. The general map of England and Wales in the Brotherton Library copy is dated 1780. Some of the county maps bear the name of Robt. Wilkinson in conjunction with those of Carington Bowles and Robt. Sayer, in the imprint. Wilkinson succeeded to the business of John Bowles after the death of the latter in 1779--Wilkinson: The Harold Wilkinson Collection... Univ. of Leeds, 1947, p. 49.
Maps show ornate title and dedication cartouches roads, rivers and places, with notes about the county.
