Woodcut of Assumption on title page, signed "PB.IHW". Title inside border. Borders on every page of primer, containing pictures of saints, angels and apostles with initials of Pieter Huys, 16 different designs. 18 engraved illustrations after Van der Borcht, including 10 by Wierix, 4 by Pieter Huys, 3 by Abraham de Bruyn, 2 unknown. Last illiustration, p. 478, contains the inscriptions "IHW" and "PETRUS VANDER BORCHT INVENTOR 1570". Illustrations differ from Plantin's 1573 edition. Some woodblock initials. Many initials and titles in red.


Printed in red and black.


Page 7 contains a print of the letter of Pope Pius V, dated 13 March 1572, granting the printing privilege to Plantin.
