Description
Philips' titles have been removed, and at the head of each map is now, in large ornamental letters, "The Pictorial World Map of -----shire". Above this, to the left, is "Supplement to the Pictorial World" followed by the date.
Maps of Cumberland, Essex, Hereford, Lancashire, Leicestershire, Monmouthshire, Rutland, Shropshire, Westmorland, and the S.W. sheet of Yorkshire are missing from the sets in the Brotherton Library, and may not have been issued. Whitaker made searches for the S.W. sheet of Yorkshire and Lancashire at the BM Newspaper Library at Colindale, without success--Whitaker: The Harold Whitaker Collection... Univ. of Leeds, 1947, p. 100.
