Description
Maps "Drawn from the best authorities by Tho. Kitchin..."
Description of each county accompanied by a map, and at least two engravings of sights of interest, a rectangular one at the beginning of the county and a circular one at the end.
The maps are distorted. That of Lancashire, for example, repeats the error of Bowen's large map of 1752 (Large English Atlas) in being too wide from east to west, while those of the Ridings are unduly narrow from east to west--Whitaker: The Harold Whitaker Collection... Univ. of Leeds, 1947, p. 50.
Engravings: "B. Ralph del. J. Ryland sculp."
London meridian.
Map relief shown pictorially.
Indexed in: ESTC T58132; Chubb CCXXIV.
