Description

Maps previously published as Atlas Anglicanus... by the late Emanuel Bowen, [1767]. All the foliated cartouches with the original titles of the maps have been erased, and new titles re-engraved on circular or oval panels, all of which begin 'Bowles's New Medium Map of' and end with the imprint. Cf. Whitaker: The Harold Whitaker Collection ... Univ. of Leeds, 1947, p. 51.
