Description

An abridgement of: Speed, John. The theatre of the empire of Great Britaine, the text of which is mainly based on: Camden, William. Britannia.

The third edition to use the title-page dated 1627. The setting of the type in the text is quite different to that used in the two previous editions but seems identical with that in an edition dated 1646.

Most maps were engraved by Pieter van den Keere.

Indexed in: Chubb XIII.
