Written originally in Italian and first published in 1555 (?). The first English edition appeared in 1558, printed by J. Kingston for N. England, whose device (McKerrow 138) is retained on the title-page to this edition. J. Wight's device (McKerrow 205) is found at the end.
A translation of part 1 of a French version of: De' secreti del R.D. Alessio Piemontese.
Mostly in black letter.
The sentence "Newlie corrected.." precedes the translation statement on the title page.
Alessio Piemontese is a pseudonym, possibly of Girolamo Ruscelli.

Short for T. Wight), with continuous signatures, appeared in 1595
