Description

"The epistle dedicatorie" is signed "W. Udall". A literal translation from Camden's "Annales rerum Anglicarum... ad annum M.D.LXXXIX", London 1615. The English translation was first published in 1624, with the dedication signed "Wil. Stranguage." In the opinion of John Scott, of Edinburgh (d. 1903) it was probably published, with Camden's sanction, by William Udall under the pseudonym of Stranguage, and later, in 1636, under his real name. cf. Scott's Bibliography of works relating to Mary queen of Scots, pub. by the Edinburgh bibliographical society, 1896.
