Biography or history

Kirkman, Sir Sidney. 2nd Lieutenant, later Major, RFA (Royal Field Artillery), serving on the Western Front and Italy. Commissioned Feb 1915 and to France shortly afterwards; Loos in Sept 1915 (Forward Observation Officer); Wounded at Hulloch and to hospital in London; In 1916 saw action on the Somme (Fricourt, Mametz Wood, a case of shell shock); In Italy in late 1917 and finally, on his return to France towards the end of the war; Later General.
