Description

For this second edition, "Ad lectorem"(p.l. [2-4]) and "Recensio libri" (p.[1]-59) were written by Sir Isaac Newton (both formerly ascribed to J. Keill). Newton was also responsible for the changes in the text, omission, insertions, etc. The "Annotationes", as in the earlier edition, are by Newton.

A compilation in support of Newton's claim to have preceded Leibniz as inventor of the calculus.

With a list of books "Lately publish'd, neatly printed in twelves", 1 p., at end.

Indexed in: Variant 2b of the nine variants of this edition distinguished by A.G. Mackintosh in "The Durham philobiblon" of April 1958 (vol. 2, part 2 and 3), pp. 14-16. Identical with Gray 240 and Babson Newton Collection 188 ("second issue of second edition"), except that A4 is a cancellans not noted by either of these authorities.
