Description

Evidently an unauthorised edition, the first substantive text being published in Suckling's "Fragmenta aurea", 1646, under the title "Brennoralt".

Additional description

Dated 1639 in early manuscript at foot of title-page, but entered by publisher in the Stationer's Register in 1642. Armorial bookplate of the Bridgewater Library pasted on recto of front free endpaper, with the Bridgewater Crest blind stamped on front and back covers, tract no. '2' at head of title-page and shelf label pasted inside front cover. Pencil signature and notes of W. A. White, 1918, on early binder's blank and in text indicating purchase of the play as a Huntington duplicate and noting 6 references to Shakespeare's sonnets in the text
