Biography or history

Ainsley, Alan Colpitts (1890-1960). Born in Hartlepool and educated at Aysgarth School, Malvern College and Caius College, Cambridge. Captain in the RAMC (Royal Army Medical Corps) from Jan 1916, attached to the South Nottinghamshire Hussars and serving in Salonika and Egypt/Palestine. Awarded the MC (Military Cross) and returned to the medical profession after the War.

Provenance

The papers were placed in the collection by Dr Roberta Ainsley (widow). The framed caricature in the Museum Section was placed in the Collection by Joyce Mitchell.
