Collected and translated from most authentick authors, and augmented with later observations; illustrated with notes, and adorn'd with peculiar maps, and proper sculptures, by John Ogilby, Esq. master of His Majesties Revels in the kingdom of Ireland.


Mainly a translation of O.Dapper's 'Naukeurige beschrijvinge der Afrikaensche gewesten'. Second edition.


First published in 1669, with title: 'An accurate description of Africa'.


Plates mostly double-page; two folding. Six single-page plates not included in list under 'Directions for placing' at end.


Not included in the register or pagination are eight leaves, printed on one side only. These are placed at the beginning of the sections on Egypt, Barbary, Numidia, Lybia, Negro-land, Nether-Ethiopia, Upper-Ethiopia, and the African islands, respectively, and carry tables relating to those sections.
