First issue of the first English edition, with 'Directions for the book-binder for placing the cuts' in later, corrected state. A French edition was published simultaneously, but no more of the author's travels were issued before the Amsterdam edition of 1711.


The plates, mostly folding, include additional, engraved title.


"Solyman III" is normally described in reference works as Soleyman I.


Pages 265-330 are omitted in the pagination of the first sequence. "The coronation of Solyman III. the present king of Persia." has separate titlepage and pagination. With a frontispiece portrait of Sir John Chardin, maps of the journey, plates of buildings in Persia and separate indexes to both parts.
