The final 3 p. of v.1 and 3, and final 2 p. of v. 4 are blank.
Printer statement on half-title verso: "Printed by James Ballantyne and Co.".
With half-titles in each volume: "Tales of my landlord, third series." On the half-title verso for v. 1-2 is found a quotation from "Don Quixote" together with a translation; this is also found in some versions of v. 3-4, but alternatively on the half-title verso for v. 3 an advertisement for "Illustrations of the novels and tales of the author of Waverly." and for v. 4 an advertisement for "Memoirs of the most renowned James Graham, Marquis of Montrose." may be found.
With fly titles in v. 1-3: "The bride of Lammermoor." and in v. 3-4: "A legend of Montrose.".
Volume 3 contains the final 8 chapters of "The bride of Lammermoor" preceeded by the relevent fly-title; followed by the first 8 chapters of "A legend of Lammermoor." also preceeded by fly-title.
v. 1: sig. N2 reversed to 2N. v. 2: sig N2 missigned N3. Occasionally the title imprint has a comma after the last "Co". --cf. Todd and Bowden.
