The sixth capter of v. 1 is headed 'Chapter VII' (p. 111).
Sheets B-O of v. 1 reset in a later issue. This is most easily identified on p. 31, l. 14/15 where 'linea/ments to' is corrected to 'lineage/ to'.--Todd and Bowden.
N6 of v. 1 is usually a cancel, and can be identified by the alteration of 'mother--but I can remember' to 'mother--well I remember' p. 204 l. 15. --Todd and Bowden.
In v. 2, leaves D8 and E1 can both be cancels, D8, on p. 63 l. 15, has 'wretch' altered to 'retch', and E1 in the uncancelled state has 'care' p. 66 l. 16, when cancelled there are duplicate settings, giving either 'care' or 'charge' -- Todd and Bowden.
The introduction, in which the authorship of the Waverley novels is acknowledged, is signed : Walter Scott.
