Description
The first edition of this piracy of Books 1-4 of Heylyn's 'Full relation' appeared in 1656 and preceded the first authorized edition, also published in that year. The piracy adds five chapters (nos. 10-14) to Book 2, but omits the concluding paragraph of chapter 5 of Book 4. It ends with "A general censure of France", headed "The conclusion", which is not found in the authorized text, and some verses which appear at the end of Book 5 of the latter. Small verbal differences also occur.
Two leaves, R7-8, appear to have been cancelled between Books 2 and 3: sig. R consists of 6ff. only, although the first four leaves of the gathering are signed, and there is a corresponding gap in the pagination, which jumps at this point from 252 to 257. X4 is a blank leaf (pp. [311]-[312]) between Books 3 and 4.
