Description

In verse.

Half-title: The trial of Selim the Persian.

"Selim the Persian" i.e. G. Lyttelton.

Lyttelton's pseudonym refers to his "Letters from a Persian".

The charges relate to his place in Court, 1745; his "Observations on... St. Paul", 1747; and Horace Walpole's three anonymous "Letters to the Whigs" (attacking Lyttelton's "Letter to the Tories"), against which the poem supports him.

Published anonymously. Written by Edward Moore, in defense of George Lyttelton. Cf. DNB.
