Description

The preface is followed by "The history of the present state of the Ottoman Empire...In three books. By Sir Paul Ricaut, &c.", having separate title-page, signatures and pagination [70pp], and followed by a publisher's booklist [2pp].

A contents list to this work follows the index to both volumes contained at the back of vol.2.

Vol 1: Some confusion over running titles, eg. the arrangement of "The history of the present state of the Ottoman empire" at beginning and headings for the lives of Amurath I and II. Pagination of pp.250-251 is reversed; p.267 printed as 277. 18 plates including frontispiece.

Vol 2: Pagination of pp.209-216 repeated, but contents are correct. 11 plates and the portraits of Solyman and Mustapha II are both described as "fourteenth emperor of the Turks".

Additional description

Some of the plates have MS notes at foot indicating page referred to in text. Signature of Geo: Fleming on flyleaf, & shelfmark D.5.17
