There are a number of variants of this work. Some copies have a dedication to Charles I on the verso of the titlepage and the titlepage to "A paraphrase upon the Lamentations... " has been cancelled. Some copies also have two additional leaves of verses dedicated to the Queen of Bohemia.
Includes (pp.1-171) "A paraphrase upon the Psalmes of David... Set to new tunes .. by Henry Lawes ..." which was originally published in 1636. It has separate titlepage and pagination. Also includes (15 pp.) "A paraphrase upon Ecclesiastes" and (33 pp.) "A paraphrase upon the Lamentations of Ieremiah." Both have caption titles and separate pagination but continuous signatures.
