Description
First edition in which Cibber replaced Theobald as a hero.
Issued in fine-paper and plain paper copies. The plain paper copies have a fleur-de-lys watermark and in some copies X3 is a cancellan. The fine-paper copies have a Strasburg bend watermark and X3 is not cancelled. The Bowyer ledgers suggest that X3 was printed with the title 'An essay on man', 1743, 'without Royal' -- Foxon.
With a half-title.
