Description
The imprint to vol. 1 names one bookseller only: A. Millar; that to vol. 2 lists 13 booksellers, including A. Millar.
First published in 1738 as A complete collection of the historical, political, and miscellaneous works of John Milton; here reissued with additions.
Title-pages dated 1753, but Eikonoklastes (in vol.1) has a special title-page dated 1756 (imprint of A. Millar), with Barron's preface, as prefixed to the separate publication of that work. These four preliminary leaves are outside the pagination and signatures of the volume, although the text of Eikonoklastes is paged and signed to follow immediately the Observations on the articles of peace, Which precedes it. The British Museum has copies of this collection with and without the special title-page and preface to Eikonoklastes, but with main title-pages dated, as here, 1753.
Not to be confused with Wing M2087, with the same title, Amsterdam, 1698.
