Description

A satire upon the Countess of Newburgh.

First written by William King in two books and printed in Dublin, 1732. Completed in four books, 1736. cf. Dict. nat. biog.

This collection piece evidences one of the first uses of the term ‘lesbian’ in the English language.

Also published with the subtitle 'An epic poem in four books'.

Signature M⁴ was cancelled and between pp.86 and 89 are inserted 9 leaves signed *M-*N⁴,*O and numbered 87-88,*89-*104.
