Authorship attributed by "Advertisement" to "a lady of quality," Pope or Gay. Nos. I and II are now ascribed to Lady Mary; included in the ms. of her Court eclogs (in Pope's hand) in NYPL's Arents Collection (cf. Arents: Tobacco, suppl., X, 623). No. III is now ascribed to Gay; included in his Poems on several occasions, 1720. Cf. R. Halsband, Pope, Lady Mary and the Court poems, in PMLA, v. 68 (1953), p. 237-250.
