Description

In this, the first edition, "Pocockius" precedes "Bodleian speech." The former, which was first printed here, commemorates Edward Pococke, the orientalist. It was translated into English anonymously about 1750 as "Thales, a monody".

"Phaedra and Hippolitus. A tragedy. Second edition" has special title-page; Joseph Addison wrote the prologue and Matthew Prior the epilogue; first performed April 1707.
