Philopatris was the pseudonym used by Blount in his "A just vindication of learning" (1679) and "Reasons humbly offered for the liberty of unlicensed printing" (1693) and in the posthumous collection edited by Charles Gildon (1695). Blount's "Appeal from the country to the city for the preservation of his majesty's person" states literally the theme treated allegorically in "The plot in a dream". Cf. Dict. Nat. Biog. and Brit.
