Description
Dedication signed by the translator: M. T.
Caption title (p. [40]) reads: "Part 1. Containing the life of Don Rodrigo king of Spain. The conquest of that kingdom under the caliph Valid Almanzor: and the wars which his death occasion'd in Africa, in Europe and Asia, between his children and his generals". No more published?.
This work, which Southey was inclined to consider an authentic history of the Arabic conquest of Spain, to A.D. 761, and as written in Arabic but two years later, is now shown by Conde, Gayangos and others to be a bold literary forgery of little value, originally composed by Miguel de Luna. cf. Ticknor, History of Spanish literature (New York, 1849) v. 1, p. 215, note.
