Ostensibly written by Catharine Neville, baroness Abergavenny (called here as elsewhere Calista) to her husband William, 16th baron Abergavenny (Altamont) in defence of her affair with Richard Lydell.


According to the "Monthly chronicle", this poem was published on Dec. 12th, 8 days after the death of Lady Abergavenny.
