Anonymous. By Voltaire, who composed this piece on the subject of the controversy that arose between Maupertuis and the German mathematician Samuel Koenig (cf. Bengesco 1624).


Presence of press figure 'I' on p.13 suggests an English origin.


May have been issued together with 'Diatribe du docteur Akakia', with imprint 'A Rome', 30p. The two were published together as 'Oeuvres mêlées d'un auteur célèbre, qui s'est retiré de France', Berlin [i.e. Paris?] (cf. Bengesco 2180 and BN, CCXIV-II 3869).
