Description
Postscript to the "Essay" signed "A.C."; this poem was first published under the title "The foure ages of England", 1648, but repudiated by Abraham Cowley in the preface to "Poems", 1656.
"A satyr against Separatists", here preceded by an unsigned poem, "To my Lord Lieutenant or Ireland", has been variously ascribed, but is now generally attributed to Abraham Cowley [cf. Noyes & Mead, in Univ. of Calif. pubns. in English, 7(3), 1948].
