Additional description
Bound with 3 other publications by Alexander as a nonce collection of his works. Volume contents: 1. Aurora, 1604. -- 2. The monarchick tragedies, part 2, 1607. -- 3. The monarchick tragedies, part 1, 1604? or 1607?. -- 4. A paraenesis to the Prince, 1604. The volume appears to consist of imperfect copies of the firt issue, 2 plays, part 1 and part 2, 1607, bound in reverse order and his Paraenesis to the Prince, 1604 in a 19th-century morocco binding with the armorial stamps of the Duke of Sutherland (? George Granville Leveson-Gower, 2nd duke, 1786-1861). Water-staining indicates that the collection was originally bound with the Paraenesis first and the Aurora second. A 19th-century inscription on the first free endpaper to the volume records its having been brought from the Duke of Sutherland, and rebound in London in 1849
