Description

Title of v. 1 within a woodcut border, the angel-border of Henri Estienne, with figures representing "Ius diuinum", "Ius canonicum", and "Ius ciuile". Figures at the bottom, representing church and state, hold a scroll with a quotation from Ecclesiastes 4.


Woodcut border from v. 2, consisting of angels in a floral design with the French coat-of-arms at the head, and a blank shield at the foot, was cut especially for the volume.


Title of v. 2. Tomus secundus. Promptuarij diuini iuris ac vtriusq[ue] humani, Pontificij & Caesarei, ab Io[n]ne de Montholon Eduensi humanorum iuriu[m] doctre: ad dei honore[m] & studiosoru[m] vtilitatem elaborati.


Colophon: Parhisijs in edibus He[n]rici Stephani e regione scholae Decretorum, foeliciter absuluta e[t] hui[us] operis ipressio die ante Noue[m]bris Cele[n]das septima. Anno a verbipare virginis partu. 1520.


Text surrounded on three sides by commentary; scriptural notations on the inner margins.
