Description
The work originally published as The vicar of Wakefield (and sometimes translated into French as Le ministre de Wakefield) is by Oliver Goldsmith, and the Triumph of benevolence is sometimes attributed to him. But the latter work is more likely to have been written by Arthur Murphy. Cf. Barbier, A.A. Ouvrages anonymes, II, col. 671; Halkett & Laing (2nd ed.), IX, p. 346; BLC, v. 127, p. 467.
Mistakenly attributed to Samuel Jackson Pratt, the author of an 19th century poem entitled The triumph of benevolence. Cf. Martin, A.A. Bib. romanesque, 73.30.
Triomphe de la bienfaisance.
