Description
"250 copies have been printed... of which 230 copies are for sale."
This work was to have been published by S. Leacroft, London, in 1775. "[Percy] procured designs for an engraved title-page and for a frontispiece, as well as smaller illustrations; and he saw most of the text in proof... Why the book was not completed we can only surmise." cf. p. [v]-vi.
"Alcanzor and Zayda" and "The Moorish bull feast", included also in Percy's "Reliques", are in English only; the other ballads are in Spanish and English.
Contents: El armamento del Moro. The Moor's equipment.--El Moro alcayde. The Moor alcaidy.--La vengança del Moro. The Moor's revenge.--Rio verde, rio verde. Gentle river, gentle river.--Alcanzor and Zayda.--The Moorish bull feast.--El marinero de amor. The mariner of love.--Notes.
