Description
Half-title wrongly bound following title-page.
The two dedicatory leaves "A Monseigneur le Comte de Bristol", signed *, which should precede "Au lecteur" are wrongly bound after the title-page "Cahiers de la conference".
Translated by Denis Cailloué.
The "Prieres, de sa Majesté de la Grande Bretagne" and "Cahiers de la conference" have individual title-pages; the latter has also separate pagination and signatures.
Purporting to be in the king's own words, but probably the work of John Gauden, based on a core of material which the King had himself composed. Cf. F.F. Madan. A new bibliography of the Eikon basilike. 1950. pp.126-163.
Wing E267A; Almack 57; Madan 57.
